ART + TECHNOLOGY + THE LIBERAL ARTS

Welcome to the NCAT, St. Lawrence University's state-of-the-art, interdisciplinary arts technology facility. Located in the Noble Center, the NCAT exists for two reasons: it meets the technological needs of the arts departments in teaching and learning; and it serves as a hub for collaborative, interdisiplinary efforts — both within the arts and across campus. The NCAT staff works with faculty members to coordinate the necessary facilities, equipment, and training to explore the intersections among digital technologies and the arts.

Faculty interested in making use of the NCAT for their classes should consult these guidelines.

The NCAT lab (NC 003) is open in the evenings for general use; anyone with a valid SLU ID card can gain access, and student workers are on duty to assist. Sun-Thu 4pm-midnight.

NCAT 'DIGITAL SANDBOX' EVENTS

As a means of introducing the new Newell Center for Arts Technology facility to the campus community, we are continuing the series of Digital Sandbox events begun last semester. Held on Friday afternoons from 3-5, each event focuses on a particular technology that the NCAT makes available for use in teaching and learning. Participants are able to get their hands on the featured technology and experiment for themselves.

Sandbox events are held most Friday afternoons and are typically announced about a week in advance. Please contact Dr. Watts for more information.
